It started with a big question: Can we accelerate progress on gender equality by engaging influencers to keep gender issues on the agenda of policy-makers?
hive believes it is possible, and has begun to prove the principle in Kenya. We built a model for identifying and recruiting authentic influencers. We created #Better4Kenya to rally and unify a diverse collective of high-profile Kenyan Influencers with multiple NGOs around the notion that gender equality is not just a women’s issue – it is better for everyone. Families. The community. The economy.

#Better4Kenya has generated millions of media impressions for often taboo issues ranging from menstrual hygiene management (MHM) to gender-based violence (GBV), female genital mutilation (FGM) and women’s economic-empowerment. As a result we are expanding this work to new issues (family planning) and new markets (Nigeria).
